German tourism experts have suggested their citizens to choose Vlora in Albania, instead of the large peninsula of Istria in the Adriatic Sea, describing the latter as too expensive to spend their holidays, the Italian daily writes in an article "LaVoce del Popolo". "Istria? Forget it, too expensive. Go back towards Vlora, Albania", so write the German media that deal with tourism and examine the vacation possibilities of their fellow citizens in the next tourist season. About 10 years ago, Croatia was a very cheap tourist destination. But that has changed dramatically. The northern part of Istria, for example, has become extremely popular among German climbers. "In accordance with the demand, but also due to the transition from the Croatian kuna to the euro, prices have increased significantly in the last year", writes "Fenix Magazine", referring to an investigation carried out by the German television RTL. "In the summer of 2023, tourists had to pay 50% more for the same accommodation compared to last year," Berlin journalists reported, reports ATSh. "The chances of prices falling this summer are slim. Therefore, the Albanian coastal city of Vlora is suggested to German vacationers as an alternative to Istria", the newspapers emphasize.
