The protesters have continued with the same scenario, throwing Molotov bombs in front of the door of the Tirana Municipality, they have tried to break the police security cordon, in order to enter the interior of this institution.

The goal of the protesters is the resignation of the Mayor Erion Veliaj, this request came after the arrest of 3 former directors of the Municipality of Tirana.

Many protesters tried to cross the security cordon placed in front of the City Hall, one of whom was the municipal councilor of "Bashke Fitomje" Tedi Blushi. The latter passed the police cordon, but did not manage to enter the premises of the Municipality, as he was stopped by the numerous police forces positioned in front of this institution.

Today's protest started around 11:00 with the cries of "thief", "resign". The democrats' protest was joined by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater, who declared that they will not tire until the fall of the government and the resignation of Veliaj.

"Measures should be taken until they leave, roads should be closed, cars should be stopped. We will not stop, we will face as we have faced all these years. What votes do you have? Think you have votes? See how the justice system works", said director Edmond Budina.

We remind you that the last protest of the Democrats was accompanied by tensions and clashes. The protesters tried to break the police cordon, aiming to enter the premises of the City Hall, while they threw Molotov cocktails and paint in front of the institution's door.

The acts of opposition violence were condemned by the US embassy, the EU embassy, the British embassy, the OSCE presence and the Italian embassy.

The protest came a few weeks after the arrest of 3 former directors of the Municipality of Tirana Mariglen Qato, Redi Molla and Taulant Tushe, the latter arrested earlier also for the incinerators file, for abusing tenders by favoring the company "5D" that they were running.
