The work of the Assembly of Kosovo during 2023 has been characterized by decision-making contrary to the Constitution, according to the report of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, which was published on Friday.

The researcher at IKD, Naim Jakaj, said that the lack of transparency in key labor issues has also affected the legislature, while elected officials have often used unparliamentary, homophobic and sexist language.

According to him, the Constitutional Court partially overturned the Law on Salaries in the Public Sector and that for Public Officials, while it completely overturned the Law on the Prosecutorial Council. In addition to this, he added that the constitution also overturned the Law on temporary measures of basic products in special cases of destabilization in the market, as well as the decision to dismiss eight members of the Kosovo Radio and Television Board.

Jakaj also said that the Assembly has developed the works without adequate planning, until there is no efficiency in the approval of draft laws and international agreements.

Meanwhile, he emphasized that during 2023, the Assembly also misused the mechanism of calling the extraordinary session for the approval of regular agenda items./KosovaPress/
