On April 2, 1879, the actor of Albanian origin, Aleksandër Moisiu, was born in Trieste.
On the German-speaking stage, he skillfully embodied the main roles of a wide spectrum of works of European literature, starting from the ancient Greek tragedies up to the present.
His career would start at the age of 19, when he started performing minor roles as a "compare" on the Burgtheater stage.
Then he was engaged in the theaters of Prague and Berlin, where he stood out for his acting skills, especially in the interpretation of the role of Oedipus the king and Hamlet. This sensational success would push him to unfold his talent towards other stages of Europe and North America.
In 1935, at the end of his life, the actor requested Italian citizenship, which was accepted by the relevant authorities.
Also, as the son of an Albanian from Kavaja and an Arber woman, he wanted to obtain the citizenship of his country of origin, which refused to fulfill his last will.
Moses died on March 23, 1935 in Vienna. The documents contain notices of performances given by him.
