Cultural tourism has increased on a global scale after COVID-19 and Bulgaria has great potential in this direction, Bulgaria's Acting Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev said on Friday. He was speaking during his visit to the city of Veliko Tarnovo (North Central Bulgaria), where he attended the opening ceremony of the Sofia Film Fest. Miloshev emphasized that Veliko Tërnovo is at the center of cultural tourism, adding that the Municipality has a solid vision for its development.

Miloshev discussed with Veliko Tarnovo the mayor Daniel Panov discussed the programs jointly financed by the Ministry of Tourism, municipalities and tourist operators aimed at promoting Bulgaria as a tourist destination abroad. Such programs are already being implemented on the Black Sea coast and the aim is to introduce them inland. Their budget has increased from 400 Bulgarian leva to 600 Bulgarian leva, the acting minister noted, adding that they are concerned with attracting the interest of tourists to domestic cultural tourism. Miloshev also talked with representatives of the Vocational Vocational High School of Tourism Vasil Beron and the universities in Veliko Tërnovo.

He said that the main problems of the tourism sector are mostly related to the lack of qualified personnel, adding that it is worth investing in raising the status of professions in this industry. "The fact that we need workers from third countries means that there is a problem with the people who are employed in this sector", Milloshev concluded. /BTA
