On the second day of his stay in the capital of Germany, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, continued his meetings with political representatives and deputies of the Bundestag from the ranks of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Green Party and the Free Democratic Party ( FDP). The meetings began with Rolf Mützenich, MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the SPD, whom the Prime Minister thanked for the invitation to participate in the event organized last night by the SPD to mark the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe. Meanwhile, at a working lunch he met MPs Michael Roth (SPD), Andreas Schwarz (SPD), Knut Abraham, (CDU), Michael Brand (CDU), Jürgen Hardt (CDU), Volkmar Klein (CDU), Volker Ulrich (CDU), Philip Krämer (Grüne), Max Lucks (Grüne), Boris Mijatovic (Grüne), Ulrich Lechte (FDP) and Thomas Hacker (FDP). The main topic of the talks was Kosovo's application to the Council of Europe and the path to full membership in this organization.
Prime Minister Kurti called on German MPs and the German government to continue supporting Kosovo for membership in the final vote on May 16 and the registry of the legal framework, human rights, rule of law and democracy in Kosovo. Otherwise, on April 16, the majority of deputies supported Kosovo's membership in the debate at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe regarding the report on Kosovo's membership in this organization. Serbia opposes Kosovo's membership in this organization. Serbia had proposed some changes in the text for the recommendation that Kosovo be admitted to this organization. Through them, it was requested that Kosovo not be admitted to the Council of Europe until the Security Council of the United Nations decides on the status of Kosovo. Serbia also requested that in the continuation of the process, the establishment of an association of municipalities with a Serbian majority should be made a condition for Kosovo. The Serbian delegation has also requested that all the points in which Kosovo's progress in respect of human and minority rights are evaluated be removed from the text and instead, Kosovo be criticized for rights violations. All of Serbia's amendments have been rejected.
