A child under the age of two has taken one of the most expensive medicines "Zolgensma". In Pediatrics, this therapy has been applied for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy. This is the first time that this genetic therapy has been given in Kosovo, which has a value of around two million and 125 thousand dollars.

The head of the Department of Neurology in Pediatrics, Naim Zeka, shows the procedures they followed to win free therapy from the "Novartis" company. According to him, this drug is expected to revolutionize the treatment of this disease.

In the interview for KosovaPress, he says that this disease is rare and deadly.

While talking about the application they made to the Swiss company, Zeka emphasizes that the procedures started more than a year ago.

The head of the pediatric neurology service says that the applied therapy is the most expensive in the world.

In Pediatrics, eight children with spinal muscular atrophy are treated. Dr. Naim Zeka emphasizes the need for early detection, which the University Clinical Center lacks.

For the application of the most expensive drug in the world, two training cycles were developed through the central staff of the "Novartis" company. Before applying the therapy, the staff of the Pediatrics department were provided with certificates, where the company authorized them to treat children with this therapy.
