She remembers every detail of the 15 hours where she and her son were mistreated in the most cruel ways. Not infrequently, the nightmare of 25 years ago returns to him, where he was taken by Serbian forces one morning in the spring and sexually assaulted in a police station. She was working as a nurse and was on her way to send clothing and medicinal drugs to the KLA soldiers. After the macabre act, she had tried to end her life. Since then, she has been dealing with ill health, and recently underwent surgery to remove breast cancer. A life full of suffering and with poor conditions, however, as it shows, he is forced to cover all expenses himself.

Aphrodita does not enjoy the contributory pension or the old age pension, but only the pension as a victim of sexual violence.

Feride Rushiti, who leads the Kosovo Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Survivors (QKRMT) says that the survivors are not enjoying the rights guaranteed by law.

Selvi Izeti, who has been working with survivors of sexual violence for more than 15 years, says that women and men have significant needs for health services.

She adds that the law is discriminatory for this category of war and that they are not enjoying their rights.

Regarding this, KosovaPress has requested an answer from the Ministry of Justice, but according to them "the issue of abused persons is not within the scope of the Ministry of Justice".

April 14 marks the memorial day of survivors of sexual violence during the last war in Kosovo.

There are currently six indictments filed for sexual violations during the last war in Kosovo.
