The director of the Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism in Mitrovica, Elvis Feka, said that the municipal bodies are the first link of cooperation with the citizens, therefore, as he says, the politics that comes from the top down is causing you problems.

During an interview for KosovaPress, he announced that cooperation with central institutions is not at a satisfactory level, despite the initiatives of the municipality of Mitrovica to work on joint projects.

According to him, the municipality of Mitrovica is facing major economic development challenges as a result of general economic problems in Europe and the world, and especially after the lack of industrial development in this city.

Speaking about the works of the Directorate, which he leads in improving the economy of Mitrovica, Feka mentioned the creation of infrastructure, the strategy for local economic development, the strategy for tourism, as well as the great commitment in strengthening the economic areas.

He emphasized the support for strengthening the economy, especially in rural areas, by subsidizing the residents of these areas, then non-governmental organizations, as well as various tourism projects.

Director Feka promised that he will not stop, thus working in the following years to strengthen economic zones and public enterprises, either with support or projects for cooperation with donors for investment.

He emphasized that since the arrival of the Democratic Party of Kosovo in government, it has been achieved that until now 70 percent of the promises in the field of economy have been fulfilled.

"Part of the cooperation with the center is not at a satisfactory level, despite our initiatives to work on joint projects... This year we managed to send a large number of projects to the central level... We intend to have a cooperation closer with the central level because as a government we are the first link of cooperation with citizens and often the policy-making comes from the top down, which is causing us problems... As a municipality of Mitrovica we are facing major challenges of economic development... due to the economic problems in general in Europe and the world... We have our challenges especially after the transition of the municipality from an industrial city to a city where ... industry has already stopped, as well as we are faced with the transition of the transition to the part of businesses and other activities of economy, with the aim of strengthening the economy... As a municipality of Mitrovica, we have worked hard to create infrastructure, we have made the strategy for local economic development, we have made the strategy for tourism and we have been very engaged in strengthening the economic zones that we have already established ", he affirmed.

Meanwhile, speaking about the field of tourism, he emphasized that according to the official data of the Statistics Agency of Kosovo, during the year 2023 there was an increase in daily tourism by 70 percent. He emphasized that since the arrival of the Democratic Party of Kosovo in government, it has been achieved that until now 70 percent of the promises in the field of economy have been fulfilled.
