Today marks 39 years since the death of the well-known rhapsody Dervish Shaqa.

Shaqa was born in Llukë e Eperme in Deçan in 1912 and died on April 11, 1985.

Devish Shaqa lived in Kosovo until 1956, but in this year he had to leave Kosovo due to the persecution of the well-known "weapon collection" action undertaken at that time by the Security of Internal Affairs of Yugoslavia (UDB) against Albanians.

Together with his fellow singer Demush Neziri, they settled in Rashbull near Durrës. There he continued to express his feelings through song, which for him was the only way to express the pain he had for his family and hometown, which were forbidden to him. This is expressed in the song "When Kosovo turned its back, we left it snow and found the dime..."

Dervish Shaqa in Albania continued the tradition of singing the history of his homeland. In the lines of his songs accompanied by couplets, the stone towers of Dukagjin, national figures, patriots and giants are described.otshey, to the brave, the warriors of the homeland...

In Rashbull, Dervish Shaqa manages to found and lead the rhapsody group. With this group, in 1968, he was presented for the first time at the National Folklore Festival in Gjirokastër. From this time, together with his rhapsodist colleague Demush Neziri, they present a series of songs which for several generations are still known as "What are these glasses that the wind blows", "From Prokuplje to Nish", "My good but snow", songs for Azem and Shote Galica, Nak Berisha and many others...

Most of the music recordings made by Dervish Shaqa and his colleague can be found in the archive of Radio Tirana.

In addition to the popular songs elaborated by him himself, the composer Tish Daija also composed for Dervish Shaqë the song "Festë te made ka sot Albania" which for several years has dominated its repetition on the Radio Station of Tirana

The people where he spent most of his life remember him as a born singer who sings for the song and not for the money.
