Only during the year 2023, 11 deaths and 330 accidents occurred in the workplace, while 8114 inspections were carried out and 53 thousand 330 workers were treated in the Republic of Kosovo.

This was said on the occasion of marking the World Day of Safety and Health at Work, where a conference was held organized by the World Labor Organization, the Central Labor Inspectorate, with the help of the Swedish embassy and the European Union Office in Kosovo. It was said there that there are currently over 60 labor inspectors in the labor inspectorate.

The Minister of Finance, Labor and Transport, Hekuran Murati, has said that they have aimed to strengthen the labor inspectorate, so that the latter is the first door, where employees and employers knock to get the necessary answers, where their complaints are addressed. for issues of safety and health at work.

Meanwhile, the Swedish Ambassador in Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, has expressed that this is an important topic for the well-being of the population in Kosovo.

Likewise, Johannes Madsen, Head of Operations at the EU Office in Kosovo, has emphasized that they support the Government for the drafting of labor legislation and once the drafts are prepared, they hope that they will be approved soon by the Government and the Assembly.

Meanwhile, the chief inspector of the Central Labor Inspectorate, Hekuran Nikçi, has continued that working conditions have improved by advancing in the purchase of work tools, and by improving the work environment where they work.
