QUINT ambassadors met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Monday afternoon at the facility of the Government of Kosovo, at the invitation of the chief executive. After this meeting, the American ambassador, Jeff Hovenier, stated that it was discussed about taking measures to reduce tensions in the north of the country.

Hovenier stated that they are concerned about the ongoing developments in the northern municipalities and that they have asked Prime Minister Albin Kurti to take some steps to achieve security in the north.

The US ambassador said that the solution is for the presidents elected on April 23 to exercise their duties in alternative facilities and not go to municipal facilities, but refused to say whether Kurti has accepted such a solution.

During the dispersion of the Serbian protesters, in the north, the KFOR soldiers were attacked with dozens of stun grenades, strong tools and other incendiary materials.

The protesters also burned the KFOR car, on which they had written the letter Z earlier, which is also a symbol of the Russians in Ukraine.

The American ambassador, Jeff Hovernier, as well as the British one, Nicholas Abbott, have condemned the attacks on the Kosovo Police, NATO troops and journalists that occurred on Monday afternoon in the northern municipalities.

Hovenier, calling for an end to actions that incite tensions, said that KFOR is there to maintain peace.

"The United States strongly condemns the violent actions of protesters today in Zveçan, including the use of explosives against KFOR, the peacekeeping troops. We reiterate our call for an immediate halt to violence or actions that inflame tensions or incite conflict," Hovenier wrote.

While Abbott said that the attacks on KFOR are criminal.

"Attacks against KFOR personnel and journalists are criminal and unacceptable. As QUINT has made abundantly clear, immediate action must be taken to de-escalate and reduce tensions," Abbott wrote.

President Vjosa Osmani also demanded that the perpetrators of the attacks on journalists, police officers and NATO troops in the northern municipalities should face justice.

Also, the head of state requested that such attacks be condemned by everyone.

"Serbian illegal structures turned into criminal gangs have attacked the Kosovo police, KFOR officers and journalists. These unacceptable acts of violence must be condemned by all. Those who follow the orders of Vuçiqfor the destabilization of the north of Kosovo, they must face justice", Osmani wrote on social networks.
