The deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri, says that Prime Minister Albin Kurti will send the draft statute of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority to the Constitutional Court, as a counter value for membership in the Council of Europe. According to him, Kurti will do such a thing before the May meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe, as he considers that the head of the government has so far turned every denial into acceptance, while he considers that the current position of it is for internal consumption only. Haziri emphasizes that sending the draft proposed by the Euro-American diplomats to the Constitutional Court in exchange for membership in the Council of Europe, is the lowest position that Kosovo has been able to achieve, since there were other opportunities such as accelerating the path to membership in NATO.

Haziri, in an interview for KosovaPress, says that if Prime Minister Kurti does not agree to send the draft to the Constitutional Court, Kosovo will lose the opportunity for membership in the Council of Europe.

According to him, Kosovo's international partners have lost faith in Prime Minister Albin Kurti, therefore they want tangible actions for the establishment of the Association, despite the letter of the heads of state addressed to the Council of Europe that after the membership in this international mechanism , the procedures for the establishment of ASM will start.

The deputy chairman of LDK for KosovaPress, expresses his concern if the Constitutional Court can clear the draft statute of the Association from the elements that, according to him, are unconstitutional. According to him, the Constitutional Court cannot change the structure of the draft statute, but what it can do is the terminology and harmonization with the constitutional spirit.

In recent days, Kosovo's international partners have repeatedly called to send the Association's draft statute, proposed by the European Union and supported by the USA, to the Constitutional Court, as a key step for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe. /E.Zeqiri/
