Serbs of the northern municipalities: Those who want to live here, must have a Kosovo driver's license
Serbian citizens of the north of the country have welcomed the decision of the Kosovo government to convert driver's licenses issued by illegal Serbian structures into driver's licenses of the Republic of Kosovo. During a conversation with KosovaPress, they said that all citizens who intend to live in Kosovo must have an official Kosovo driver's license. Miroslav Llaketiq, a citizen from the north of Mitrovica, says that the decision of the Kosovo government to convert driver's licenses is right. He has suggested that institutions work more on informing citizens through the media. Nemanja Nestoroviq, another citizen from the north of the divided city, tells KosovaPress that the citizens' interest in driver's license conversion is great. According to him, what scares the citizens and what they are looking for an answer to is the fact of what will happen to their driver's license, namely if they will be confiscated by the institutions of Kosovo, canceled, or returned to the citizens. On the other hand, the Serbian analyst Branislav Kerstiq said that the majority of the Serbian citizens of the north have accepted the government's decision on driver's licenses with pleasure. He added that it is no longer possible for two police forces to function in one state. Kerstiq emphasized that the integration of the citizens of the state of Kosovo is finally happening, while he said that the three-month period for the conversion of driver's licenses is sufficient.
