Democratic League of Kosovo member Hykmete Bajrami, who has also won a mandate as a Kosovo MP, has reacted regarding the liberalization of the electricity market, saying that this is a mockery of citizens and businesses, as nowhere can electricity be found cheaper than from KESCO, as the latter buys energy from KEK very cheaply and sells it at double the price.
She wrote on Facebook that KEK, which is a public enterprise, sells energy to KESCO at a price of 29.5 euros/MWh, while the price of energy on the HUPX stock exchange for tomorrow does not fall below 100 euros/MWh at any hour, and those who know this best are mocking citizens today and every day, reports KosovaPress.
"And while ERO is mocking the citizens, the government officials have not made a single sound on the issue that will affect everyone's pocket and will seriously damage the economy of our country. The statement of the Chairman of the Board of ERO is truly a mockery of the citizens, because it is precisely the price of electricity that citizens and businesses are not agreeing with. And the Chairman of the Board of ERO said: "Find the electricity yourself cheaper and buy it". But the question is: Where can it be found cheaper? KEK, which is a public enterprise, sells energy to KESCO for 29.5 euros/MWh, while there is an agreement that obliges KEK to sell all the energy produced to KESCO, which then sells it to us at a price that has already doubled. So, they are mocking you and us, because finding electricity cheaper than from KESCO is impossible because none of the private operators licensed by "ERO cannot receive electricity from KEK. Purchasing from private operators means purchasing imported energy, which on the HUPX stock exchange costs a minimum of 100 euros/MWh. There are two questions that require immediate answers: Who is the Government/ERO working for? Is the energy mafia thriving in Kosovo?", she wrote, adding that the reason why they are not agreeing to the price increase is precisely because KESCO receives energy from KEK, at a price of 29.5 euros/MWh.
