To be closer to voluntary blood donors, from 10:00 on Thursday morning, mobile teams of the Blood Transfusion Centre were located on the "ZahirPajaziti" square in the capital.
There were many people who were waiting in line to donate voluntarily blood. One of them was Kujtim Shala, who donates blood every three months, and it was the 30th time that he does such a thing.
"I am a regular blood donor, so far I have given blood 29 times. Which means to donate blood and save life, he said.
For citizen Gjyla Nitaj, was the first time she donated blood, but she says she will be a regular blood donor.
"We all must give blood, to save life. We need to do blood reserves. However it is also good for our health. It is the first time for me, but I will give blood every three months, "she said.
Fadil Mahmuti, the manager at the Blood Transfusion Centre (QTGJ), told Kosovapress that the number of citizens who have expressed willingness to donate blood is very large.
"There was a significant number of blood donators. I believe that this number will be increased during the day. Approximately, the figures are similar to previous years, but I believe that this year we will exceed that of last year, that were collected over 100 blood doses," he said.
Dr. Hysen Sadriu, the director of the National Blood Transfusion, told Kosovapress that this center is constantly working towards providing blood to the needs of patients nationwide. According to him, citizens' awareness of blood donation is significantly increased and that the actions they take for blood collection appear to be very successful.
