The representative of the Civil Registry Agency, Sabrie Reshani displayed projects of the agency, saying they will continuously try to protect the principle of citizens' rights and ensure access to their personal data.
"This brochure prepared in cooperation with the State Agency for Personal Data Protection and European Commission, I think it will provide a good opportunity for citizens in order that they to be informed more closely related to rules and procedures that come with the law of personal data protection, rights and obligations that have authorities that are responsible for the collection, maintenance, processing of these data but also for the right of citizens to access the data," he said.
The main state supervisor in the State Agency for Protection of Personal Data, Ruzhdi Jashari said that the organization of this promotion is an important step to information of the public opinion about the importance of civil registry and in particular for the protection of personal data of Kosovo citizens .
"This promoting meeting provides positive effects in the feasibility report, in the process of visa liberalization and stabilization and association, in terms of general processes to EU, while for Kosovo citizens it provides basic knowledge about their rights to privacy and personal data protection, and for our state institutions, especially the civil service offices, where citizens are provided with personal documents, this brochure provides solid knowledge about legal processing of personal data right, "said Jashari.
While, leader spokesman of Operations in the Office of the European Union, Melvin Asin said that citizens should feel secured as their data are protected by institutions, but also the institutions should create legal and technical opportunities and access of citizens to their personal data.
"This brochure aims to inform citizens about their rights and obligations connected to data protection. This will be completed by training the municipal officials for proper processing of data. If I leave the impression that this is only a technical one, let me say that it has a political dimension too, because data protection is important for Kosovo and for us, in the guidance for visa liberalization and meeting of certain criteria, "said Asin.
