Liridon Zeka, activist of the organization Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosova, said that the activity aims to increase pressure on respective institutions to determine the fate of all missing persons from the war in Kosova.
It is the fifth year that Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosova in cooperation with the activists of Nisma ime, organizes the activity to mark certain days of missing persons. Considering the lack of engagement of respective institutions to determine the fate of missing persons, we as organization for human rights and as activists have considered as reasonable to organize activities to pressure on institutions in order to be efficient in their work, Zeka said.
Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosova and its activists informed that they have organized such activities as well in the past, however it seems that they did not impress the respective institutions, however it shows that the awareness and interest have increased among the citizens to know for the fate of missing persons. According to them, the number of missing persons is still high.
Todays activity is one of activities that was realized in the past. This aims to show that the number of missing persons is still high, there are 1781 missing persons, whereas we have constantly wanted to emphasize that this number presents individuals, and not just a number. Thus, each one should be specified as an individual, Zeka said.
