U.S. ambassador in Kosovo, Christopher Dell, has congratulated the decision of the Government of Kosovo for the opening of the administrative office in northern Mitrovica. According to him, the government's decision once again demonstrates its commitment to the welfare of its citizens regardless of their ethnicity and the further commitment of the Kosovo Government to proceed with the completion of the Ahtisaari Plan after the conclusion of supervised independence in September of this year.
Ambassador Dell, has made these comments on Thursday during a visit with deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Petrovic and with the Mayor of Rahovec Smajl Latifaj , in the Hoca e Madhe village.
Asked by reporters whether the formation of administrative office in northern Mitrovica, will succeed, Dell has expressed optimism, saying that since July 2010, when in northern Mitrovica was opened the office for services, there have been more than 10 thousand citizens from that side who have taken their services and 8 thousand of them were Serbs.
Dell: It demonstrates the commitment of the Government
"I am very optimistic, because I think it demonstrates once again the commitment of the Government of Kosovo for the welfare of its citizens, regardless of their ethnicity and the further commitment of Kosovo's government to proceed with the completion of the plan Ahtisaari following the conclusion of the supervised independence in September of this year, in order to create the possibility of opening the new municipal there and later elections, "he said.
Dell, on this occasion, spoke about yesterday's incident in a village in Klina where two Serb houses were burned, saying that this act will not affect the sustainable return of Serbs to their homes .
Dell: There are conditions for sustainable return.
"Of course there are conditions for sustainable return. We are here in a village that is flourishing where we see a population that is working and putting their products and shows that can be lived from the land and wine and therefore there are conditions for sustainable return. What is most important is the very fast reaction of the government at the municipal and central government and they are not only expressed that these incidents are reprehensible, but also shared the funds to build immediately houses there " he said.
Otherwise, the burning of two houses, of two families of the Serb community in the village of Klina, was condemned by all relevant institutions, and they have sought solve of the case, demanding that the perpetrators of this to be brought to justice.
