Thaçi: Delays of Brussels cannot be justified

The Prime Minister of Republic of Kosova, Hashim Thaçi made these comments today in the meeting of the government cabinet, where they discussed about European integration of Kosova.

“There is no doubt that Kosova has European future. The state of Kosova is united in the political field and whole ethnic in the Euro-Atlantic integration vision. Kosova is implementing the required criteria for visa liberalization within record timeline, and on trade relations and preparations on the stabilization and association agreement. However, the truth is that the dynamics in Prishtina and in Brussels does not match. The delays of Brussels cannot be justified, Kosova was unduly delayed for one century. Since the declaration of independence, Kosova has worked to approach the EU structures, whereas the EU has acted with slower steps,” Thaçi said.

He added that Kosova does not request privileged treatment, nor accelerated processes, but only equal treatment as all other countries of Western Balkans. He said that EU should not tolerate black holes in Europe.

Thaçi expressed his disagreement that the non-recognition by five EU member states is considered as justification for not having a right and accountable commitment in accordance with the interests, work, European commitment and accountability of Kosova as well from Brussels.

He told to ministers to be committed on fulfilling the criteria and questions in the questionnaire that derive from the report on starting the feasibility study with Kosova.
