In the ceremony of swearing-in of Kosova notaries, Kuçi talked about this issue, by saying that he will request from the president of Kosova, Atifete Jahjaga, to return the law on Criminal Code.
He pledged that he will amend it on the next day, if Jahjaga signs it.
I call on the president to return those two articles, if she signs it according to Constitutional mandate and I have nothing to say. As minister of Justice, I will amend the Code, if it will not enter in power, I will remove the articles until January 1. I will lobby in Kosovas Parliament not to approve those two articles. If those two articles will enter in power on January 1, after my efforts, my resignation as minister will enter in power as well, Kuçi said.
The journalists of Kosova have protested regarding the articles 37 and 38 of the new Criminal Code. They have requested from the president Atifete Jahjaga to return them to Parliament, because, according to them, those articles violate the freedom of expression.
However, journalists asked Kuçi as well about the mandate of EULEX mission. Regarding this issue, he said that they are coordinating the work in order to transfer the competences from this mission to local bodies. He believes that the EULEX mission will be successfully completed in 2014.
