“KMDLNJ has reacted earlier as well on the way of selection of previous rectors by evaluating that the political influence has been determinative for their selection. The selection of Gashi as rector of UP is the case of continuation of politicization of this university through political imposition of preferred candidate. The Board of the University was not objective and dishonest on its declaration for prevention of political interference in the process of selection of rector of UP. This Board was appointed in order for the selection of political rector to pass without problems and objections,” reads the press release of KMDLNJ.
According to them, the new rector Ibrahim Gashi has resigned from the political posts only after being assured that his selection as rector of UP is a done deal. “Thus, KMDLNJ asks: why should they organize this false event for selection of new rector when we have to do with a political appointment?!
KMDLNJ considered that the entire process of “selection” of rector of UP is irregular, planned by putting in unequal position and by discriminating other candidates in UP. In this case there is violation of human rights through manipulation of the competition for rector of UP. Thus, this decision should be cancelled and new competition should be announced, in which the rector of UP should be selected without political influence, and a professional and accountable and aware of the catastrophic situation of public education in Kosova,” reads the reaction.
