During this roundtable, attended by key stakeholders of the country's health, TUFKH has presented the monitoring report of the country's health institutions where it was pointed out violations of the rights of health workers, mismanagement and non-transparency of the managements of health institutions.
Also Minister of Health Ferid Agani has admitted the violations of the rights of health workers and lack of transparency and accountability, who said that these violations are occurring as a result of a weak health system. He mentioned also the commitment of the Ministry of Health to avoid these shortcomings, saying that, for this reason, last year it was singed signed collective contracts with TUFKH.
He further added that the reform initiated in the health system, which has to do with the law on health and health insurance will avoid the current difficulties and will contribute to better organization of the health care system.
"The rights of workers in the health system in our country are affected firstly because of an anachronistic health system which does not reflect the actual social needs of our country. It is a system which has avoided the emergency needs of the early postwar years and therefore we have different violations that are the result of a despotic position of some civil service positions in the country who have far greater legal powers than those in essence that we had to have, "he said.
Xhemajl Selmani, chairman of the Union of Health Workers of UCCK, said the lack of transparency and accountability, are negatively impacting on the work and services of health workers, which then are reflected to patients who are being forced to abandon the public health institutions.
