According to them, even though the investments are a hope for the economy of Kosovo, have not yet reached a satisfactory volume and the concerns remains the rule of law, the efficiency of institutions and poor offer of Kosovo to potential foreign investors.
The executive director of STRAS, Ibrahim Rexhepi said that access of foreign direct investments has been the constant preoccupation of the Government and all other institutions, but if the achievements made so far are analyzed, we cannot say that a satisfactory optimum was reached. Rexhepi, as more concrete proposals mentioned the concession of Pristina International Airport, for which 100 million euro of investment have been promised and the privatization of KEC Supply and Distribution at a price of 26.3 million euro, while with direct promised investments, from 200 to 300 million euro, and as pending projects he has mentioned projects "Kosova e Re" and the privatization of PTK. He also said that the privatization process of social enterprises was not attractive and did not bring serious investors to Kosovo and the problem for potential investors remains the international status of Kosovo and the situation in the north of the country.
"Problem of investments remains the international status of Kosovo and an instability respectively a problem related to the situation in the north.
In the years 2007-2011, the total of investments according to the Central Bank of Kosovo is one billion and 800 euro, where there is noticed a greater participation from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I would correlate this to large concentrations of Kosovar Diaspora in these three countries. In this period the participation of Turkey is only 4.4 percent, "he said.
As a special segment of this research is the relation between Kosovo and Turkey, due to several capital projects, where private companies are engaged, ranging from the highway, then the concession of the airport, the privatization of KEC Supply and Distribution, in which are included Turkish companies.
