Kosova has potentials for investment in Agriculture

The minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Blerand Stavileci said that this meeting will help on identifying the possibilities in specific sectors, current cultures that are appropriate for cultivation in Kosova’s market, which have potential for manufacture and in the long-term could be exported. Stavileci said that people have started to perceive the agricultural sector in different way, adding that all potentials should be focused on this field, as almost all investors are focused on agricultural sector and energy. According to him, despite of difficulties, the investments that have been made until now in this sector, have provided their fruits.

“Through investments in this sector and in many other sub-sectors, especially those who have advantage to increase the incomes of farmers, to replace the imported products with our products and to explore new possibilities to export our products,” Stavileci said.

He talked as well about other programs for agriculture, by saying that for investments in agriculture, financial resources are needed and there should not be considered only those within the budget of the ministry or donors, but to consider commercial banks as budgetary alternatives, with more favorable conditions than those in the past.

Whereas, the director of USAID program, Mark Wood said that the project for new investments in agriculture is a new possibility for investments in this sector as well in the future. According to him, this meeting aims to encourage different sides to invest in agriculture.
